Ingenia Technology has teamed up with luxury carton manufacturer Grafiche Bramucci to provide its anti-diversion and anti-counterfeiting technology to customers in the personal care and cosmetics sector.
The deal enables Italian Grafiche Bramucci to provide clients in cosmetics, fragrance and luxury products customers with access to Ingenia's Laser Surface Authentication (LSA) technology, which scans the surface of products to generate an intrinsic 'fingerprint' of each item that can be referenced against a secure database.
Grafiche Bramucci has installed Ingenia's scanning and coding system as part of what it describes as a "comprehensive anti-counterfeiting and anti-diversion initiative."
The partnership also sees Ingenia's first installation of a double scan-head, which allows the LSA system to scan the inside as well as the outside of each product. This ensures that Grafiche Bramucci can secure all their customers' cartons regardless of design requirements or material type.
Ingenia said its technology "requires no additions or changes to a product and therefore allows complete protection of branded goods with no compromise to the design or aesthetics."
"With the rise of illicit trade within the luxury sector and given our prestigious customer portfolio, it is vital that Grafiche Bramucci is able to offer the very best solutions for anti-counterfeiting and anti-diversion," commented Francesca Bramucci, director and owner of Grafiche Bramucci.
The Italian firm counts a number of luxury goods companies among its clients, including Garnier, Giorgio Armani, Lancome, Moschino and Versace, as well as other premium brands such as Campari.
Earlier this year Ingenia launched the first product in its new K-series of high-speed laser scanners designed to be integrated into the fastest production lines with rates of 10m/s or up to 50 items a second.
