Another illegal streaming site shuts down

Shortly after torrent site Popcorn Time announced it was closing down as a result of declining usage, another – ETTV – has followed suit.

The peer-to-peer streaming platform told TorrentFreak that it no longer has the funds available to stay online, and it will not renew its domains. It follows several days of being offline, according to the report, which notes ETTV had been operational in various forms since 2011, despite pressure from rights owners.

The demise of a second service backs up the view that consumers are happy to pay for the convenience of legitimate subscription streaming services, although the proliferation of different paid platforms has led to warnings that piracy sites may stage a comeback.
