Appiphany licenses online monitoring system

WatchdogAppiphany Technologies has acquired rights to an online monitoring platform - called Watchdog - in North and South America.

The proprietary system scans business-to-business (B2B) as well as business-to-consumer (B2C) sites and - according to Appiphany - makes use of dynamic filtering that allows users to search results by geography, website, price etc in real-time and to remove infringing items "with a click".

Appiphany was formed in 2009 as a digital media company but changed direction in 2015 with the creation of an intellectual property protection, brand protection and brand integrity consultancy to complement its software development activities.

The Watchdog platform - originally developed by Comsec - "will immediately assist all private, commercial and government clients in safeguarding the integrity and value of their operations, products and enhance global online security," said the company.

Appiphany's chief executive Rob Sargent said the company had reviewed a number of onlune monitoring tools before taking the license to Watchdog, noting that "real-time identity of online infringement is key to resolving a myriad of client concerns before they become a serious threat."

Originally designed for media, entertainment and sport organizations, Watchdog has become "a staple" for the fashion, pharmaceutical, legal and aviation, according to the company.

Appiphany intends to broaden use of the system into the defense, agri-food and electronics and luxury good sectors.
