Phil Taylor, 02-May-2012
Canadian police
have seized $1m-worth of counterfeit clothing, toys, designer
handbags and other products during a raid on a flea market in
Toronto, in an operation that led to four arrests.
The operation at Dr. Flea's flea market yielded fake versions of
products sold by Louis Vuitton, Coach, Juicy Couture and Ralph
Lauren, as well as pirated versions of movies including copies of
the new Avengers movie, which has yet to open in theatres in
Canada.
Towards the end of March, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
said it had removed fake good with a retail value of more than $1m
in a series of operations stretching back several months, focusing
mainly on the trade in counterfeit sports clothing.
