Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Minneapolis seized two shipments filled with filled with fake accessories mimicking designers including Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel on Friday.
The shipments – both arriving from Laos – included counterfeit handbags, wallets, fanny packs and phone cases that if genuine would have been worth upwards of $560,000, according to the agency. The shipment was manifested as clothes, and on inspection the goods were revealed to have “various inconsistencies, poor quality, and incorrect packaging.”
An import specialist inspected the items and deemed they were in violation of CBP trademark and copyright codes, said CBP. One shipment was destined for a residence in Minneapolis, while the second shipment was heading to Superior, Wisconsin.
