Counterfeit Arai helmets seized in Malaysia

More than 200 counterfeit Arai brand motorcycle helmets have been seized by Malaysia’s Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living during a raid on business premises in Penang, according to national news agency Bernama.

The 216 helmets – worth an estimated RM 54,000 (around $13,000) – were "trademark-infringing replicas" and seized during a raid at a business premises in Singai Bakap, according to the ministry's enforcement director S Jenang.

Arai – which is a premium manufacturer of helmets – has warned that counterfeit helmets are being offered through websites and other sale channels that "may not comply with legally required standards for your country, not to mention their interior fit may not have been designed for your market and as a result may be very uncomfortable."
