$2.7m-worth of fake watches seized in Florida

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers have seized more than 11,000 watches in Florida with an estimated value of around $2.8m.
The watches were found concealed in 123 cartons at Miami Seaport en route from China and were suspected of being counterfeit as they "did not appear to be of the quality consistent with the watches that are normally manufactured by the trademark holder," according to the CBP.
The watches (pictured) appear to be copies of timepieces sold by Swiss company Breitling. Samples were submitted to CBP's Import Specialists for review and determined to be counterfeit.
CBP and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) seized $1.2bn-worth of counterfeits and other goods contravening intellectual property rights (IPR) last year.
