Where do YOUR jeans come from?
Phil Taylor, 03-Sep-2013
All American Clothing letting its customers identify the individual farms involved in the production of its jeans using a traceability code.
The company - which as its name suggests prides itself on producing high-quality clothing in the USA at an affordable price - is letting patriotic customers check for themselves that its jeans are sourced domestically.
Each pair of jeans now comes with a certificate of authenticity including a serialised 12-digit traceability code that can be entered on its website to reveal the farmer that produced the cotton, with short description of the farm and its history.
The website also gives customers an insight into the production process for All American jeans - the cotton is monitored from the farm to the mill to the finished product to ensure 100 per cent use of American labour and materials - and gives an opportunity for the company to explain its ethos.
The programme has been set up with the help of the Plains Cotton Cooperative Association (PCCA), which represents around 10,000 US farmers.
