‘Lethal’ liquid soap seized in Pakistan

Counterfeit liquid soap described as ‘highly acidic’ and ‘injurious to health’ has been discovered at a shop in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

The substandard soap was discovered after a government department that was supplied with the product for use in its offices complained about the quality, according to a report in The Express Tribune.

The owner of the shop has been taken into custody and has indicated that he supplied the soap to “several hospitals and government offices”, according to the site, which suggests the soap was heavily contaminated with “acidic pollutants”.
