Customs officers in Hong Kong have seized around 1,300 counterfeit cosmetics products with an estimated market value of about HK$360,000 ($46,000), with one woman arrested in connection with the case.
The operation followed test purchases of the suspected counterfeit via an unidentified online platform, which allowed brand owners to determine that the perfumes and other products were fake. A 33-year-old woman was arrested after meeting an undercover officer in passion of counterfeit perfume and lipstick.
The remaining items – which included counterfeits of big brands including Chanel, Dior, Tiffany and Clarins – were uncovered at her home in Sha Tin and an industrial unit in San Po Kong, according to a customs statement.
