CBP snares $1.7m in fake Christian Dior, Chanel perfume

Customs and Border Protection (CBP officers at Miami Seaport Port seized more than 60,000 bottles of imported perfume bearing counterfeit trademarks – in 1,440 cartons – in the build-up to Mother’s Day in the US.

On April 9, CBP inspected a shipment from China seizing counterfeit perfume brands under protected trademarks belonging to Christian Dior and Chanel. If genuine, the seized perfumes would have an estimated manufacturer’s suggested retail price of more than $1.7m.

“Fragrance is absorbed by the body; therefore, consumers need to be aware that wearing counterfeit perfume could expose them to potentially hazardous chemicals,” said the agency in a statement.
