Electric cables most counterfeited goods in Kenya

The government in Kenya says that electric cables are the most counterfeited product in the market, with alcohol, food and petrol also ranking highly.

There has been a high demand for electric cables in the market, driven by ongoing electrification projects in the country and particularly rural areas, reports The Star newspaper.

“Our biggest challenge has been the cables despite the increased operations including destruction of the goods,” said Wanyama Musiambo, coordinator of a multi-agency team aimed at fighting illicit trade in Kenya. “We will continue with the fight until we wipe them out.”
