More than 600 counterfeit Black Rhino alloy wheels, valued at around $140,000, were seized by agents of the Philippines National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during multiple raids last month.
The raids targeted sellers of counterfeit wheels located in Makati, Manila, Parañaque, and Quezon City, and was assisted by TSW, which own the Black Rhino brand. They covered 9 stores and 3 warehouses identified by NBI’s Special Action Unit during months-long surveillance operations.
The NBI said the wheels are of “a deeply inferior quality and are incapable of carrying the loads for which they are supposedly tested and rated for. This completely renders them particularly dangerous for use on the vehicles they are likely to be installed on.”
Similar raids to seize counterfeit Black Rhino wheels have been conducted in South Africa last month by the South African Police Service's Commercial Crime Unit.
