Fake Honda airbags are seized in California

Customs officers seized eight counterfeit Honda airbags at Southern California’s Ontario International Airport in the US.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said the fakes were found in September during an enforcement examination of express air cargo packages. Automotive import specialists confirmed the airbags – in two packages from China – violated Honda’s trademarks.
Had they been authentic, the seized airbags would have been valued at more than $4,800, said the agency. Counterfeit airbags are “a major invisible threat already associated with fatalities in the US,” commented National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Acting Administrator James Owens.
