Honda’s global ops hit by major cyber-attack

Honda has revealed it has been hit by a ransomware attack that has resulted in a shutdown of some production facilities outside Japan, as well as its customer and financial service operations.

“Honda can confirm that a cyber-attack has taken place on the Honda network," the Japanese car-maker said in a statement to the BBC, which cites a security export who says the attack appears to have used Ekans ransomware.

The car and motorbike manufacturer said the attack was affecting its ability to access its computer servers, use email and otherwise make use of its internal systems.
