FSA Northern Ireland launches food fraud hotline

The National Food Crime Unit (NFCU)  of the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has launched Food Crime Confidential, a freephone number to report food fraud in Northern Ireland.

The Food Crime Confidential number (0800 028 11 80) can be used by anyone who has suspicion about food crime and wants to report it safely and confidentially to the NFCU, said the FSA, which has contributed to similar hotlines in the other countries of the UK. The FSA has provided communications material in a range of languages to help them.

The hotline is part of an effort to crack down on food crime, which is estimated to cost the economy up to £2bn ($2.56bn) every year.
