Probe eyes fake alcohol link to deaths in Dominican Republic

A series of deaths among tourists visiting the Dominican Republic have raised concerns that they may have ingested contaminated alcohol.

Several of the deaths – which are being investigated by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) – involve US tourists who are reported to have died suddenly after drinking alcohol from hotel minibars, although for the time being there no definitive link has been established.

The FBI is helping local authorities conduct toxicology tests in a attempt to identify if the deaths are linked, according to a BBC report.
