Aegate helps DocMorris meet FMD commitments

DocMorris has pledged to become the first mail-order pharmacy in Europe to meet the EU's safety features requirements for medicines.
The company is working with Aegate to implement a medicine authentication system that will allow it to meet the legal requirements of the EU Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD), including the ability to handle a serialised code and tamper evident seal on medicine packs.
Aegate has developed a demonstrator system that can be used to put the end-to-end-authentication process - with codes added to packs by the pharma manufacturer and checked at the point of dispensing - through its paces.
Verification occurs using the technical connection to an authentication platform by Aegate, one of the selected national blueprint providers in Europe.
"Thanks to the cooperation between Aegate … and Europe's largest mail order pharmacy DocMorris pharmaceutical manufactures will be able to check, their serialized medicine packs under real conditions," said the two companies in a statement.
