AlpVision adds to iPhone app capabilities
Staff reporter, 04-Apr-2012
AlpVision's iPhone 4 authentication app
for plastic-moulded materials is now compatible with its Varnish
Cryptoglyph technology thanks to a new update.
The Genuine or Fake app was launched last year to be used alongside
AlpVision's Fingerprint technology for authenticating moulded
components, including containers for liquids, powders and tablets
and medical devices.
Now, the app can be used to authenticate products protected by the
Swiss company's Varnish Cryptoglyph, a pseudo-random pattern of
invisible micro-holes embedded in the standard varnish coating
applied to packaging and labelling.
"Using an iPhone 4-like device, brand owners can … perform instant
product authentication on any Varnish Cryptoglyph secured
packaging (e.g. folding boxes, blister packs, and labels) without
changing the flow, speed or cost of production," says the firm in
its latest newsletter.
AlpVision says it has installed more than 100 Cryptoglyph secured
packaging printers and converters worldwide.
