Bayer launches UK campaign to warn of fake flea collars

Bayer is asking vets in the UK to help raise awareness of counterfeit Seresto brand flea and tick collars, which it says have become “a prime target for fraudsters.”

The company – which has just reached an agreement to sell its animal health business to Elanco for $7.6bn – has launched a campaign to educate pet owners on where to safely buy the products, according to a report in Vet Times.

Bayer is asking vets to play a key role in helping stamp out the illegal activity, by identifying and reporting counterfeit collars they come across when in consultation with pet owners. It has also published a video explaining how to distinguish between genuine and counterfeit products.
