Bergstrom takes helm at EFPIA

Richard Bergström, the head of Sweden's pharmaceutical industry association, the LIF, has taken up his role as the new director general of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries & Associations (EFPIA).

Bergström took over the post on 1 April in succession to Brian Ager, who is leaving EFPIA after 16 years. to join the European Round Table of Industrialists as secretary general.

Through his role at LIF Bergström has been involved for many years in the fight against counterfeit medicines, particularly to identify new models for ensuring secure drug distribution, and was involved in EFPIA's serialisation pilot in Sweden which took place last year.
