CBP seizes second fake Viagra haul in three weeks

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intercepted 618 falsified bottles of Pfizer’s erectile dysfunction drug Viagra in Kentucky, in the second major US seizure this month.

The bottles containing almost 18,500 pills were netted whilst in transit to a man in Burton, Michigan, and at list prices would be worth upwards of $1.3m. The misbranded, unapproved drugs – thought to have been purchased through online sources – have now been turned over to the FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigation (OCI) for further investigation.

Earlier this month, CBP officers in Cincinnati discovered around 10,350 counterfeit Viagra pills imported from the Middle East with potential ties to Hong Kong and China.
