A group that aims to inject digital technology into the container shipping sector has come up with a set of standards to allow tracking of shipments between carriers.
The Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) says the new standards – which can be downloaded free of charge from its website – will “simplify shipment visibility across multiple carriers” for shippers. Meanwhile, for carriers, they will help to ensure “accurate and efficient communication regardless of the underlying technology or platform.”
Overall, the standards should enable supply chain partners to “reduce complexity, cut costs and, over time, better manage their end-to-end supply chain.”
