Coding specialist Markem-Imaje has boosted its position the pharma sector with the acquisition of digital print specialist Heidelberg CSAT.
CSAT - a subsidiary of German printing group Heidelberger Druckmaschinen - is a specialist in integrating digital printing and labelling systems into industrial production lines, and focuses on supplying drugmakers as well as the label conversion sector.
The company's flagship brand is its Linoprint L rotary inkjet printer (pictured), which has already become established as a platform for serialisation and track-and-trace projects in the pharma industry.
The Linoprint L range will continue to be distributed by Heidelberg affiliate Gallus, and Marken-Imaje's acquisition cements its position in the marketplace alongside other coding giants such as Domino and Videojet.
Markem-Imaje president Serge Kral said the acquisition expands Markem-Imaje's technology portfolio and broadens the market reach of CSAT's solutions. Meanwhile, Gallus said in a statement: "With Markem-Imaje’s in-depth expertise in digital printing and 25 years of success in the marking and coding sector, the future and further development of this offline and near-line digital solution is secure."
The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
