Two brothers have been sentenced to jail terms for the illegal importation and sale of unlicensed erectile dysfunction drugs.
Charlie and Matthew Knight from Hatfield Pereval in Essex have both been given eight month prison sentences, suspended for 12 months, after being found guilty of selling medicines via the eBay e-commerce platform.
The pair was also ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service and ordered to pay £1,000 apiece in costs. During the investigation a raid was conducted on a property and MHRA investigators found over 19,000 doses of unlicensed ED medicines.
They also discovered that the brothers were running a business called MedKnight Services and were selling the drugs to customers in the UK and across Europe.
"These men had previously been warned that their actions were against the law and yet they persisted in their actions," said MHRA head of enforcement Alastair Jeffrey.
