Nipson unveils anti-counterfeiting toner

France's Nipson SAS has launched a new proprietary fluorescent toner that it says is designed to meet "the ever-growing market demand for anti-counterfeiting solutions."

The new toner, called T3000SY, fluoresces yellow when illuminated by a standard UV light source and is the first that can be used with high-speed printing systems. Other colours will be developed at a later stage, said Nipson.

"This toner has been specifically developed to facilitate fraud detection. Copies or reprints of the original document would not fluoresce under UV light, something which is quite easy to detect," explains Jean-Pierre Poyer, Nipson's marketing manager.

Poyer added that the fluorescent toner can be combined with other security measures, such as magnetic toner, magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) and microtext.

Nipson will showcase the new toner at the IPEX 2010 exhibition in Birmingham, UK, this coming May.
