DNA marking specialist Applied DNA Sciences (APDN) has appointed Michael Hogan to the newly-created position of vice president life sciences, effective from mid-September.
Dr Hogan has 25 years of experience in DNA research and translational science and has been involved in the creation and operation of several DNA-specialist companies, including Genometrix, GenVault, Aprogenex and Triplex Pharmaceuticals.
He will lead a drive into the pharmaceuticals anti-counterfeiting space at APDN, which to date has been active mainly in the electronics and textiles industries, and also help guide the company's R&D efforts.
"As a world-class expert in the physical chemistry of DNA, as an inventor, entrepreneur and researcher, Mike Hogan has much to contribute immediately, and we believe he will play a key role in moving the company to the next levels in the future," commented APDN's chief executive Dr James Hayward.
