Barry McDonogh has joined TruTag Technologies as vice president of business development and will help the company expand into new markets.
McDonogh (pictured) has previously held positions at Systech and UDG Healthcare and will TruTag expand its operations in "art and collectibles, life sciences, food, electronics and industrial goods," amongst others.
Privately-held TruTag is best known as the developer of edible microtags that can be used as physico-chemical identifiers (PCIDs) in pharmaceutical oral dosage forms such as tablets and capsules, and last year supplemented its product range with the launch of a handheld optical reader that can be used to authenticate tagged products.
Using the scanner, products can be scanned for not only authentication purposes but also lot number, delivery and distribution history etc. The tags can be unique at the dosage form or batch level.
"Barry has an impressive track record of success and is a strong addition to our team," said Kent Mansfield, TruTag's president.
"His industry knowledge of advanced materials, tracking and authenticating products, brand protection and security will be invaluable to us as we continue to build broader application of our unique capabilities in a variety of industries."
