Packaging group Romaco will debut an anti-counterfeit pharmaceutical blister pack technology - developed with the help of NANO4U - at the Achema exhibition in Frankfurt later this month.
The company said the blister packs have been designed to help drugmakers meet the requirements of the EU's falsified medicines directive (FMD), which comes into effect in 2018.
The system can be incorporated into all blister machines equipped with coding stations and will be showcased at Achema in a Romaco Noack line 960. The blisters feature a NANO4U hologram stamp which can incorporate a hidden logo or code, as well as other covert and overt safety features.
"Invisible codes that can be verified quickly and easily can also be incorporated into the hologram," says Romaco. "All you need for verification of a hidden logo or data matrix code is a simple laser pointer."
