Sir David Cooksey appointed Aegate advisor

Sir David CookseyPatient safety company Aegate has appointed business magnate and venture capitalist Sir David Cooksey as an advisor to its executive board.

Sir David has been a director of the Bank of England, chair of the UK Audit Commission and a governor of The Wellcome Trust and chaired an independent review for the Government of the bioscience industry, the latest edition of which was published in January. He is currently chairman of UK Financial Investments Ltd (UKFI) and London & Continental Railways Ltd.

He said Aegate, which specialises in point-of-dispensing authentication of pharmaceuticals, "offers a unique and important solution to a very real economic and safety issue; that of counterfeit drugs."

Aegate's systems are already rolled out in Belgium, Greece and Italy and the company says it expects be operational in two more European countries by the end of the year.
