Systech buys Apostrophe to get bigger in serialisation
Staff reporter, 09-Jun-2012
Systech International has
acquired Apostrophe Systems, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) and
cloud software company, in a move that it says increases its
capabilities in the cloud services serialisation market.
The packaging execution system (PES) specialist said that: "for
more than six years, customers have run Systech and Apostrophe
systems together, making the two companies a natural fit."
Apostrophe Systems president Robert Magee said the company's
technology allows customers to deploy RFID and bar-coding solutions
quickly in the cloud or on any type of computer or embedded
device.
Systech has been building a strong position in the emerging market
for consumer product serialisation in recent years, and has already
implemented dozens of coding projects in the pharmaceutical
sector.
Last year, the company forged a partnership with Zetes to offer
European pharmaceutical manufacturers serialisation systems in
light of national initiatives in France and Turkey and the upcoming
requirements for coding at the EU level.
In addition, Systech recently opened a dedicated centre at its
European headquarters in Brussels, providing testing/staging areas,
demonstration space and training facility for drugmakers which are
implementing serialisation.
"Apostrophe Systems' strength in cloud services, combined with
[our] leading PES and serialisation solutions, creates new
opportunities for our companies and enables us to serve the
marketplace even more effectively," said David Harty, Systech's ice
president.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
