Two residents of Atlanta, Georgia, have been sentenced for conspiracy to use false or counterfeit passports created using stolen personal information.
Danielle Dorsett (54) and Byron Laforest (50) obtained counterfeit passport cards with the names and other details of victims whose details they stole, but their own photos. The passports were used to withdraw money from at least six victims' bank accounts from branches in Florida, Louisiana, and Texas.
On their arrest – in a hotel in New Orleans East in February 2022 – law enforcement officers recovered several additional false passport cards.
They were sentenced on January 19 to time served, supervised release for a term of three years and an $100 mandatory special assessment fee.
