US searches for CIA, FBI badge counterfeiter
Staff reporter, 04-Apr-2016
The US government is trying to track down a Romanian man charged with making and distributing fake federal agency badges.
34-year-old Roberto Craciunica (pictured) was indicted in the Eastern District of Virginia in October on charges related to making and distributing counterfeit FBI, CIA and Homeland Security badges. He is thought to be residing in Germany and Interpol has issued a 'red notice' for his arrest.
The counterfeit credentials have been used on numerous occasions, including attempts by armed men to access a restricted area of Reagan National Airport and the Naval Nuclear Training Command in South Carolina.
Craciunica and co-conspirators are accused of selling the badges via a Germany-based company called Master Equipment and websites such as www.badge-police.com and www.master-equipment.org. The charges relate to activities carried out by the group between January 2010 and September 2015.
