Stamp-sized RFID tag from Avery Dennison

Avery Dennison RFID has introduced a postage stamp-sized RFID inlay tag - the AD-805 - that it says is "ideal for tagging small items in densely packed retail and healthcare environments."
The distinctive configuration of the inlay (pictured right) means that it has now been dubbed the 'S' tag.
The company claims that the AD-805 boasts superior edge-on reading range to competing tags, adding that in environments where rivals are not readable "the AD-805 continues to perform."
Edge-on reading is often difficult since the narrowest portion of the tag is facing the reader. This makes it a good choice for plastic or cardboard blister packs, according to Avery Dennison.
A small form factor also makes the AD-805 a great tag for small items in retail environments, such as drugstores, it said. The AD-805 is EPC Class 1 Gen 2, ISO-18000-6C and designed to be ROHS compliant.
